trophy rental in europe
« on: February 04, 2015, 05:29:18 am »
Hey guys.

Planning a 3 week tour through Europe(Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria and perhaps more) next year and wondering of anyone might know of companies that rent the TT. I thought about shipping my bike over from Canada, but the headache and economics may not make sense for 3 weeks.

I just "Googled" and found a UK based Company : Open Road Rentals

I have NO connection with them whatsoever.

According to their web site they Rent out the Trophy SE
and san deliver it to your chosen location in the UK or Europe,
and then collect it afterwards.

I don't know what the pricing would be ( but would expect it to be quite high ! )
but at least it seems that it can be done !

Cheers  :821:

Depending on the rental price buying a nearly new one and selling on departure may be an option. My rule of thumb when I consider rentals is:

Less than two weeks rent.
Two to six weeks buy and sell works.
Six weeks up ride my own.

I took my Electra Glide back to Milwaukee for the 100th party, six weeks and 11,000 miles of pure magic. Nothing like riding your own bike on another continent.

Enjoy Europe.

Hallo Rob,

Perhaps the first ting to answer is: why are your coming to Europe?
What do you want to see?
You live near by the big lakes. So the east coast of Frans is less interesting? (=Atlantic ocean)
The North of Germany is flat, no hills, no nothing, just German people  :430:
Switzerland is more than beautiful. Here you will find the highest mountains of Europe.
But Switzerland was already more expensive than the Euro countries, Switzerland uses their own Swiss franc, but now the coupling Euro-Swiss Franc is broken. = prices >+20 %.
France, the south of France, you can find beaches at the Middellandse Zee. Here the rich and famous lives.
Italy is nice, enormous crowdie, and if you know where to go; very old historic stuff.
Austria is a bit like Switzerland, normal prices, good food etc.

Please remember, Canada is more or less 1 country, English or French spoken.
In Europe we have a different language for every country.
But English will do everywhere, perhaps in France a bit less.

If you have a Garmin, or Tom – Tom I can advise you some web site where you can down load a route.

I live in The Netherlands; I assume you will fly to Amsterdam / Schiphol.
I can ask my dealer what the hiring rate will be. (if they hire)

O ja, 5+ countries in 3 weeks…  a kind of a challenge.
BTW; what are the shipping costs?

Kind regards,
