Top Box
« on: February 10, 2015, 09:09:00 pm »
Tried to put the top box on for the first time and can't get the handle down into the lock posisition. The box is sitting flat, handle up, and key in the release posisition, seems to be hitting where the electrical connection is made. Instead of sliding togeather there hitting and the lock handle will not go down. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

Sorry if I'm stating the bleedin' obvious but ........................................ you HAVE removed the rubber 'weather protector' cover that goes over the carriage electrical connector when the top box isn't fitted?

The only thing I am aware of that would stop the handle going fully down, assuming no obstruction, is that you haven't fully seated the top box on the sliding carriage

My very same question. (Rubber plug protector)Plus again not telling you how to suck eggs but put it on at a slight angle to engage the front hooks then it should just come down flat.
Lower the handle and it should lock down.

Yes rubber plug was removed. Must have tried 20 times. It's in the hooks slid foreward and sitting flush. Handle up key in the right posisition but won't go down into the lock posisition, crazy  :157:

Had a similar problem, just check the 'hooks' are going into the 'holes' at the bottom half of the box.  I had to bend them slightly to fit.

Can we assume the handle will move down in its locked position when the box is not on the carriage rack?  I just installed my rack and top box and haven't had any issue.  When the key is in the correct position, the handle will move into its home position but does take a little force to click into place.

Yes works fine when not on the bike. Tried to force it a little but wouldn't budge. Vary frustrated At this point. Something is hitting and not sliding togeather. Like it should
