Thats the holiday sorted
« on: February 18, 2015, 03:23:35 pm »
Hi All - finally got the hotels booked for our 2015 holiday

Start from my house in the Netherlands

1. First stop Trier in Germany
2. Next Dijon in France
3. Next Nimes in France
4. Next Nice in France
5. Next Genoa in Italy
6. Next Lake Como in Italy
7. Next Alessandria in Italy
8. Catch the train back to Den Bosch in the Netherlands
9.  Back home.

Using the train to get home allows more days in the sunny south. Hope the bike behaves itself - it'll be the Trophy's first big tour and we're going in late June/early July. Should be over 2000kms all together.

What have you guys got planned for your hols this year.

Just looked up Salamanca, wrong side of Madrid for us unfortunately.  Certainly bear it mind for a future though!

Planning on heading south to Tuscany via all 3 Alps then back up to Monaco and down through Spain. Then head home up through Western France. Unsure of the distance but we're setting 3 weeks aside for it.

You are going to have a great time.  We did Spain in 2013 and had fantastic weather throughout the trip.   In fact I was praying for some cooler days towards the end.  We travelled from the UK via Portsmouth to Bilbao and spent two weeks doing the northern parts,  San Sebastián, Pamplona, Burgos, Santiago de Compostela along the north coast via Santander then to Bilbao.   Don't go near Portosin.   The mountains in North Spain are wonderful.  Lots of medieval small town, locals who did not speak English and menus that were only in Spanish.  Loved it.  2000 miles in total so very relaxed.

Not holidaying on the bike this year  :138:  but hoping to do an extensive tour of Italy in 2016.

Slight change of plan. The train company I'd planned (and booked) to use to to bring us home from Italy has stopped the service. Thankfully I got my 500 Euros back but it means I'm riding the whole way there and back (an extra 1000kms). I'm not too bothered to be honest.

I'm just pondering now whether to get the Triumph tank bag. It'll be useful to keep cameras and other stuff in instead of stuffing them in my jacket pockets.

Holiday now about 5 weeks away. Getting excited !!!!!
