No riding this weekend
« on: February 19, 2015, 08:11:52 pm »
No riding this weekend due to a 'little' Tropical Cyclone. TC Marcia Cat 5 storm is about to hit the Queensland coast. For those in the Northern Hemisphere a cyclone is like a hurricane except it spins the opposite way (clockwise).

For local riders stay safe.

Dont blame you, i see the cyclone is expected to hit almost 300kph, but luckily expected further north than your location.  Also notice the cyclone in the northern territories at the moment as well.

Hope it doesnt affect too many people.  I was in Houston when 'Ike' hit in in 2008 and that was 'only' 220 kph or so but did a lot of damage.

Good luck and best wishes

The cyclone is going to track SE then out to sea to eventually pay a visit to our Kiwi cousins as a deep low. Unusually the intensity is not predicted to break down quickly once it makes landfall. There's a good chance it will be a Cat 1 when it gets to us tomorrow afternoon (more likely a very deep low). Looking forward to some drenching rain to fill the dam and water tanks; but not wind, definitely not wind.

Family and friends are safe and waiting out the storm.

G'day Tom,

Feeling for you mate. Fortunately we don't have those seasonal extremes here, only the occasional tropical storm/cyclone.

Make the most of your riding season and keep the shiny side up.

Stay safe around that storm! Cat V is nothing to sneeze at! (I'm in Florida, where if it isn't a Cat III or higher, it is just an excuse to party, and "storm preparation" means a run to the liquor store)
