Help me square the circle!
« on: February 23, 2015, 02:36:49 pm »
Hi Guys,

Got my TTSE booked in for a 20,000 service tomorrow and the TPMS are being changed under warranty as I'm getting a low battery warning.

I have Dunlop Roadsmart tyres with only 4,000 miles on the pair but because you guys tell me the Michelin Pilot Road 4's are so good whilst they Dunlop's are off I told them to go ahead and put me a new set of boots on.

Stupid?  Wasteful?  I ride about 2,000 miles a month so maybe could have got two more months out of the Dunlop but hell I just wanted new rubber; re-assure me I'm not being too daft, please!

Later

YOU are the person riding the motorcycle. You do what gives you the best peace of mind. I did manage to go through a set of Roadsmarts in 5000 miles when I had my Beemer so you may be closer to new tires than you think.

Not sure how the Dunlops are, all tires are good ( almost ) in the first few 1000's of miles.  I think you will find the PR4's ... delightful ... wonderful handling, long life..

Anybody who renews tyres too early is much wiser than someone who renews too late - I hope that helps?

Not stupid at all

I threw away bridgestone tyres (021s???) on two bikes at the same time as they were rubbish.  Probably only half worn on all 4 wheels but could not stand them any longer.  There again when the garage took them off to fit new (not bridgestones) they said they had never seen tyres wear like it???
