    Motorcyles and gangs per FBI

From the K1600 forum this is a link to a Washington Post satirical article on an alledged interview conducted by an MSNBC reporter (?) regarding the FBI's position on motorcycle owners.  Worth a read for all us North Americans.  Maybe some of us need to start contacting Senators and Congressmen.  :153:

Very interesting.  There are more than 12 million licensed motorcycle riders in the US.  So the FBI has classified 4% of the US population as gang members and is keeping records of those individuals based on their motorcycle licenses.  Can anyone say government out of control?

I also find it interesting that as an attorney licensed to practice in 3 states and several federal courts I have successfully passed multiple background checks.  Must be those bar associations and courts have the proper opinion of the FBI and its data collection habits.

I don't have a problem with logical profiling with law enforcement, lets face it, it works. But, this is the most ridicules profiling list that I've ever heard of. Many of the members that I use to ride with in the Goldwing group were either active or retired law enforcement officers and firefighters.

One thing I learnt about the US when I lived in Austin, is that the US is NOT quite 'the land of the free'......

Hate to agree with that but I'm afraid I have to, of course I doubt any country is.

You're not alone with that sentiment.

not to change this to a philosophic discussion but there are a lot of us who wish we were free men with no place to go...but if you have no place to go which is free can you truly be free?
