Triumph Breakdown Cover
« on: April 15, 2013, 09:59:53 PM »
Shame the Trophy only comes with UK breakdown cover - My new silver TT arrives at the dealership tomorrow, and just needs the extras fitting. Have a French trip organised for five days on 17th May with the local IAM group, and was looking forward to taking the new bike with me.

Haven't got round to selling the RT yet, so will take that instead, as it has European cover included under the "approved used" package.

I know I could pay to upgrade the RAC package, but I'd rather spend the money on a couple of tanks of fuel

That's a very good point you make there.

Triumph openly pitch the Trophy against the RT and a few other bikes.

Do Triumph match BMW regarding breakdown cover ?      NO THEY DO NOT !!!!

Message to Triumph:-

The TT is a better bike than the RT. Well done. Triumph 1     BMW 0
Breakdown cover.                                          Triumph 0     BMW 1

Come on Triumph....if you want to take on BMW:-

Give a 2 year worldwide breakdown/recovery on a new bike.
Give a 3 year warranty on a new bike for the same owner.

Never worried about the breakdown cover that comes with bikes or cars, have always used Britannia Rescue Deluxe Cover on a specific vehicle .i.e. the bike which covers European travel and Personal Cover for any other privately owned vehicle of mine or the wife's which we are driving or travelling in at the time of a breakdown in the UK. Complete package :152:

My first trip abroad on a bike and I suppose if I get the bug, then Britannia deluxe sounds like the way to go. You probably use it quite a bit, and get good value. I just thought it was ironic that a second hand RT is covered but a new Trophy isn't, and an extra £60 is a waste if I don't get the time to do it again over the next 12 months.

I would think that the used BMW cover is unique. I still wouldn't by one though.

You're probably right. The Triumph Trophy is far superior in every department. In a few days I'll be able to ride both (alternately of course) and confirm that. Shame The Trophy won't be going to France - That would have been a blast.

How much is the Britannia cover, btw? Just in case I get the bug....

Have a look at http://www.britanniarescue.com/cover_options/uk-european-assist/ and pick what suits your needs. I pay £103 for their Deluxe + Personal Cover because I am a member of the CSMA. There are other types of qualifications for discounts also, when you click Get Quote you are able to select.
