Thinking of buying a new style trophy SE

    Hi all Gary here.
I am thinking about getting trophy SE,  new version,  maybe a year or so old,  but was curious to know if there is anything specific I should look for on a second hand bike?
I'm also curius to know if since the launch of the new model,  if there are any common reliability issues starting to surface?
Your guidance and advise would be greatly appreciated

I am looking at the trophy as I currently have a VFR 800, but looking to do more touring and the VFR is a bit to sporty for long tours.

    Many thanks for your help
    Gary

Hi Gary1274, and  :400: to the Forum !

You could start off by having a look at some of the Topics contained in this Thread : TOP TIPS for new Forum Members,
where there are links to lots of information including a New Owner Checklist.

Like most Forums, which provide a sounding Board to air problems,
you can mistakenly end up thinking there are lots of problems, when there aren't.

The reality is that the Triumph Trophy is a VERY reliable machine, and while there were some early teething problems,
( as there are likely to be with ANY new motorcylce design ), the vast majority of these have been sorted out
by the very pro-active attitude of Triumph which is to be commended, and which has included both Mandatory Recalls,
Voluntary ( free of charge ) upgrades, and the re-design of some components such as the Cruise control switch.

With a 2 year warranty and 10,000 mile / annual service intervals, together with the price
when compared to other motorcycles of lesser specification, the Trophy ticks a lot of boxes !

Not to mention a FANTASTIC Owners Forum  :152: - that you already discovered, to rival any other,
and where ( in my personal experience ) all the Members are here to help each other out wherever they can.

Have a Play with the "SEARCH" button to find out about anything specific,
or if you can't find an answer to something you'd like to know more about,
just post a question in a relevant Section, and you'll soon have the answer !

Be warned that most motorcyclists taking a Test Ride are sold there and then - so take your wallet !

If you do buy, just ask the Dealer to confirm that the relevant recallls have been csrried out and you'll be fine  :028:

    Cheers  :821:

And you might ask Coconut about a certain bargain priced red (not a factory color) Trophy for sale on the internet that he has some background on.  Beware of that one!   :400: to the forum and good luck with your search.  After the VFR you'll think you are going down the road on an overstuffed sofa that handles when you get on the Trophy.

NO - Don't ANYONE buy that one !

Buy from a Dealer and gt warranty  :169: - If you shop around you can get some really good deals
on Ex Demo bikes where they give you the Triumph 2 year warranty from the date of purchase  :028:

    Hello Gary and welcome :400:

Coconut has pretty well summed things up and pointed you to a great single resource of common questions. Have a read and it should answer many of your questions but if not shout out. One of us or more will have an answer.

Having used a few of these forums in the past for various bikes I can hand on heart say that this is the friendliest, most helpful and non-judgemental forum I have come across....

Find a bike you like the look of.....arrange a test ride..... Hand over your money...

    Three easy steps really!
Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧

All I have to say on your request is: 2014 or later, not ANY of the 2013 models!! :028:  -Dr Ron
    Growing old MAY BE mandatory...But
    Growing up is OPTIONAL !!
