Made the purchase! 2014 Silver TTSE

So I finally pulled the trigger and bought a new 2014 TTSE in Silver. Got a pretty good price for it and picked it up Saturday in Thousand Oaks, CA and had a great 150 mile drive down the coast to San Diego for my first ride.

First impressions: Definitely a bigger bike than my Bonneville, but after an hour or so I was feeling more comfortable on it. I’m just about 5’ 9” and had the balls of my feet on the ground at a stop. Lots of stop and go traffic so I was able to get comfortable and get my technique down. One time I misread the road and leaned to the right when I should have leaned to the left. I could feel the momentum shifting but was able to shift back to the left and not drop her.

She was great on the highway and the windshield and fairings made for a comfortable ride. Love the cruise control, radio, storage, etc. This is going to be a great everyday commuter for me.

Now, the dealer I bought her from was pretty clueless - in fact I think I knew more about the Trophy than they did. They assured me that all service bulletins and recalls have been done on the bike. The serial number is 626179, which I think means it’s in the range for the ECU replacement, but I did a search on http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/safety-recall-search  and it came up with no outstanding items. Is it safe to assume that the replacement has been done? Any way to verify?

I did check the radio and it has not been updated to the latest firmware so I’ll have the local San Diego dealer handle that when I go in for the 500 mile service.

Congrats on the new ride. I agree a completely different beast than the Bonnie.

Be sure to have the firmware updated!

    All the best!!
My mother asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "a biker". She said I'd have to choose one or the other.

Welcome to the Forum :400:.  This Forum has artery good search tool and there are several threads on the ECU.  I believe one or more has the actual Triumph bulletin posted.

Thanks! I did read through the ECU thread and my serial number is in the range for the replacement in that Safety Bulletin. But when I search on the Safety Recall on the Triumph site it shows as no recalls are applicable to my bike. Does that confirm it's already been done? Any way to verify?

I would ask the San Diego Dealer to check when they do the 500 mile service -
They can easily connect your Trophy to their Diagnostics equipment to check  :028:
