Trophy SE/Sena SMH10Rv5.1/Garmin 590LM
« on: May 03, 2015, 10:52:40 am »
Folks,

I'm new to this forum but find a couple of answers to my issue, still can't get it working fine.

1/This one does not work 100%:
"
1- I hardwired Zumo 590 with the jack;
2- I connected Helmet bluetooth like Headset 1;
3 - I connected iPhone to the TT like Device 2;
4 - I connected iPhone to Zumo 590 too. Zumo in this way will consider TT audio system like an headset WITH microphone;
5 - I DID NOT CONNECT helmet headset to the Zumo;
6 - I set NAV alternative source on OFF on TT (it took me 1 month to understand this)
7 - I set Bluetooth  alternative source on ON
7- I connected ipod to internal USB.
In this way I can:
a) receive calls (via TT or Zumo);
b) make calls (via Zumo, after I stopped in a safe place!);
c) listen to music on iPhone via Bluetooth;
d) listen to music on iPod via USB;
e) If I want, I can listen to iphone music via iphone using the Zumo too
"
In this case, I have my Iphone 5S working as before and without the Zumo.
Zumo deactivates the Iphone 5S audio since it does not find any headset.

2/If I connect the Sena to the Zumo, I can't hear the Trophy radio in the headset anymore, only the nav voice in the headset.

Ideally, I'd like that works like Harlock's post described here.
I have double checked the Trophy jack connection and seems ok.

Thank you in advance for your feedback and support.
Cheers

I've been screwing around with my Bluetooth setup lately (Zumo 590LM, scala rider G9x, iPhone 5S). I've tried using the Zumo as the "hub" of the system and totally skip the Trophy audio system but found that I cannot always get a reliable A2DP connection and everything sounds like bad AM radio. I finally reverted back to my original configuration which is the same as your steps 1-3. The only advantage to pairing the phone to the Zumo is gaining the ability to initiate calls and use SmartLink. If you are going to pull over anyway, you can skip the phone-Zumo connection and manually initiate the call with the phone. If you plug the phone into the Zumo's weatherproof USB connector you can use SmartLink that way and skip Bluetooth to the Zumo altogether.

To summarize:
1. Zumo hardwired to the audio system via the OEM under-fairing harness
2. scala rider G9x paired to the Trophy as Headset 1
3. iPhone 5S paired to the Trophy as Device 2
4. iPhone plugged into Zumo's (NOT Trophy's) USB port
5. Nav audio enabled in audio settings

This lets me:
a. Listen to all Zumo output (nav instructions or MP3s on the microSD card) when NAV is selected on the Trophy
b. Answer the phone and manually initiate the call when stopped
c. Use all the other audio sources on the bike (A

OK, I thought I hit the CAPS LOCK key, but I hit something else instead... Anyways...

c. Use all the other audio sources on the bike (AM/FM/WX/XM)
d. Control the volume using the bike's controls (as far as I know, the scala rider is the only one that works like this)

The best part - 100% success rate connectivity, every time using A2DP!

As far as I know from using the Sena SMH10, you are correct that the Scala is the only one that allows use of the volume control on the Trophy.  I have mine paired differently.  My phone is paired to the helmet and the helmet is paired to the Trophy and I answer or make calls independently of the bike.  I get or make very few calls anyway, almost exclusively to or from my wife since I don't give out my cell number freely.  I do have to control volume on the Sena unit, not the bike audio.

I overestimated my need to use the phone while riding, thus the desire to utilize the Zumo for phone communication - voice dial (which worked quite well for me), address book synchronization (worked but too difficult to choose a name while in motion since it required a lot of down-arrow button presses), and most importantly the ability to see who was calling on a much larger screen (worked very well). In the end it just wasn't working out for me the way I wanted, especially the audio quality. When I listen to Pink Floyd, it MUST be in STEREO dammit! And if I really need to initiate the call, I can always get to a safe spot to pull over. If I ever figure out how to get Siri working with this setup I'll post it.

Blaste,

I have similar set up to you

Garmin 590 hardwired to the Trophy audio system
iPhone 5 physically connected to the Trophy USB port
Autocom L1 Logic system with bluetooth module for headset

The configuration I have working consistently is for the iPhone paired to the 590 as telephone but with media deleted in the bluetooth panel on the 590
the 590 is then paired as headset to the Autocom L1

I can see incoming calls on the 590 and accept or decline them as road safety allows.
When appropriate I can initiate calls through the 590 selecting any number from my iPhone contact list
I get radio and iPhone music through the Trophy audio system connected to the Autocom L1

Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧

All,

First of all, thank you for the feedback.

Then, that worked as expected.
I have changed the Garmin Motorbike KIT/support which was defective (DOA).

1/Pair the Sena with the Trophy (Headset)
2/Pair the Zumo with the Trophy (2nd device)
3/Pair the Iphone 5s with the Zumo

I can take call from the Trophy or Zumo. Contact details appear on the Zumo and the Trophy as well.
I can manage the music from the Trophy and the Zumo.
