Forks Making a clicking sound....
« on: May 05, 2015, 09:29:00 am »
Let me predicate this with I already did a search on the subject.  I found a couple of older topics and read through them.  So now, I am asking if anyone else has a weird clicking sound coming out of the forks under compression.  I hear it on bumpy roads and if you are sitting still squeeze the front brake and rock the bike on the suspension it makes the sound.

I am going to contact the dealer about this and was just trying to have all of my ducks in a row before the call.

I never had anything like this and it came on all at once?

Thanks for any input.

Kurt

My bike does this I traced it to the front brake pads clicking.

What did you do to rectify it?

Nothing, I can only hear it at very slow speeds doesn't bother me now I know its not the forks. I had a Suzuki bandit 1250 did the same with new pads after a few thousand miles the rust on the pads took up the slack and the rattling stopped

I've got this as well - I also had it on my Explorer except it was much, much worse. Had the forks replaced under warranty. It's definately not the pads (in my case).

Mine isn't the pads either.  did they ever tell you what is causing this noise?  Annoying as all get out.  But I'm pretty obsessive when it comes to my bike....  LOL  aren't we all.

I just checked mine and it has a bit of a similar noise although I wouldn't call it a "click", and it definitely is not loud enough that I would ever hear it with the engine running and my helmet on, but then my helmet always has some noise of its on going on in it.  Before anyone asks, NO it isn't the voices in my head I'm hearing.  :017:

I recentley noticed this clicking sound also at low speeds and traced it down to the brake pads.  Is this a "normal thing" or is there cause for concern??
