16000km service in Canada
« on: May 17, 2015, 03:59:33 am »
Hey guys.   Bike is a year old this month and just hit 16k.

Curious as to what other Canadians have paid for this service?

I was quoted $900. Seems excessive.

Thanks.

That sounds more like the cost of the metric equivalent of a 20k mile service.  The dealer probably got it mixed up!   :187:

Kind of what I was thinking, as well.

The 20,000 mile service at my dealer is just under $900 right now.  Next year, who knows.  The dealer has been bought by a larger multiple location dealer because the owners wanted to retire, and so far the same people are there and the parts and service are still reasonable, and now the tire prices are within a few dollars of internet sale prices all the time.  Sounds like the dealer did indeed use miles and not km to quote the service cost.

So I called the dealer to ask if the 10/16k service includes the valves and apparently triumph recommends it so they say it should be done. That explains the $900 perhaps.

RPDATA :

Re Checking and adjusting Trophy Valve Clearances ...
apparently triumph recommends it so they say it should be done.
NO - NOT AT 10,000 MILES / 16,000 KMS THEY DON'T !

Check out the information in Reply #1 here : Servicing Data and Reference Information
where you can download and print out the Service Schedule and show it to your Dealer.

It clearly states that the Valve clearances are not checked until the 20,000 mile / 32,000 Km service,
and then every 20,000 miles / 32,000 Kms thereafter.

This information is also contained in your Owners Handbook, and the Service Manual.

I wouldn't want to say that your Dealer is lying to make more money  :015:, just that they are WRONG !
