I'm happy to join this forum and pick up my new pick on Friday. I sold my V-Strom 1000 last week and found a new in the box 2015 SE at a good price at Cycle Stop in Rochester NY. I live in Pittsford and look forward to meeting some of you out on the road. I know I will be not be able to ride to the national gathering in PA as my daughter graduates HS that weekend but hope to attend some other events in the NorthEast this summer.

    Cheers.

    Mike

I had a 2003 V-Strom 1000 and I passed 30,000 miles last summer so it was time for something new. Ran like a Swiss watch the whole time I owned it but no ABS, TC, etc.  I wanted more wind protection and features and I honestly found the new model V-Strom ugly. The Trophy is a little bit tighter in leg room but was the only thing even close to being comfortable. I have the dealer looking for a Euro spec seat as the North American ones are 1.9 inches lower. The only other bike I seriously considered was an Aprilia Caponord at a similiar price. But there are no dealers here and it did not have the touring features. I hate the RT as there is no room to stretch my legs and the K is too spendy. I liked the K1250GT when I rented one but they stupidly stopped making that. The Connie, FJR, Versys 1000, Norge, Multistrada, ST, Explorer, SuperT were all too tight.
