I have the top box liner. Whenever I go on a long trip I use the top box bag. As you say, well made and makes it much easier getting in and out of hotels with your gear.
    Useful pockets and good handles.

I would recommend it, especially if you already have the pannier liners.

Although this has been discussed before and I commented then I will reiterate.  I have used the pannier bags and  I find the pannier bags to take up too much room.  They leave excess space in the panniers that could be used for additional items.  I had ordered the top box bag before discovering this.  But when the bag came in and I fitted it I decided that it would have the same characteristics.  So I returned it. Just my two cents.

Although I agree the fit is a bit 'loose' I use the outside space for things like waterproofs, reflective jackets, lock spare gloves, so I don,'t have to open the liner to get that sort of stuff out when stop.  Also it means dirt and wet etc from things like locks doesn't get into the clothes.

But doesn't that mean you have to repack every morning when you put liner back in?  Kind of defeats the purpose.

The other aspect is that I, being paranoid about theft/damage, cannot force myself to leave the panniers and top box on the bike when checked in at a hotel.  So I end up taking them all in anyway.  I kind of view my purchase as wasted.

Like John. I use space around the bag for the things I want to get at without opening the liner. Locks waterproofs etc.

As for taking the panniers off and taking them into the hotel. You have to be kidding! Far to bulky and heavy for doing that. You also need to start staying at better hotels if the kind of place you are choosing is that risky to the bike!
