REALRIDER Safety app
« on: April 23, 2013, 09:42:46 PM »

Has any one had an email from Triumph regarding a safety app by Realrider.
It sounded quite good at first reading, and I went on to register, but when I got to
Where you have to agree terms and conditions, and also there privacy policy, I changed my mine, when I read them they seam to want to know an awfully lot of
Information, you can have a look on: www.realrider.com/register or www.realrider.com will explain all what it does, it sounds quite a good thing in priceable but I am a bit reluctant to give a lot personable information. To a web site.
Just wondered if anyone can shed any light on it.

I registered many month ago and all seemed fine then.  But now they are releasing the app and telling more about it I was a bit concerned.  I did not pick up from the initial interest that they were going to gather so much information.  I am sure it said in the early days that you could just share routes and find other people's opinions on routes.

I also got the email from triumph but as I say I am already registered.

This appears to be UK oriented so its likely a moot point for me.  But I will say that, as a lawyer who addresses a lot of privacy concerns, the idea of an app tracking my every movement is disturbing.  This is one reason I deactivated the OnStar service that comes standard on most upscale General Motor vehicles in the United States.  Perhaps I'm taking a risk in someone not knowing where I am in the event of an accident.  But I prefer that to "big brother" watching my every move.
