Newbie from Worcestershire

Hi,

I'm not a Trophy owner at the moment and an insight into ownership is probably the main reason for joining the forum.

I've been riding for over 40 years and owned more bikes than I'd care to own up to. However, the only Triumphs I've owned include a 1978 TR7 750 twin and a 995i Tiger triple.

So far, I've narrowed it down to the Trophy (although I'm not sure whether I'd want the SE version) or a BMW1200RT, which I've owned in the past. They're obviously both accomplished touring bikes, although I'm drawn towards the Triumph because of the triple cylinder engine and they're made up the road.

I'm looking forward to ploughing through the past threads and perhaps asking a few questions of my own.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum from a fellow shire inhabitant! (Just down the road from you in fact!) 

You are in the right place to fact find on the Trophy to help you make the choice although what I can really recommend is taking a test ride.

Of course, once you have done that the decision making will be over other than what colour to order!

There are lots of threads for you to look through so it might be easier if you have specific questions to just ask away. Someone will have input!

Though the Trophy had a few "teething' problems that some of us experienced I believe those have been worked out. In spite of having some of the audio issues, more common here in the States, I find the Trophy to be the best motorbike I've ever ridden.
You're familiar with the BMW so go out and test ride the TTSE and compare. I think I know which you will prefer!

I would go on the BMW forums and look at all the problems people have had before making your decision.
80% of the problems on this forum are in the USA and are minor issues that have become major problems due to lack of knowledge at the dealers. They are still sending new bikes out without updating the radio softwear and the batterys are flat in 3 days. It doesnt leave the customer with a good impresion of Triumph

Just take a TTSE test ride and your be hooked.  I rode an RT and the TTSE and felt right at home on the TTSE straight away and never looked back.

Enjoy the ride whichever way you decide.
