Why won't my Trophy battery hold a charge?

Installed a new battery on my 2013 SE about 3 months ago.  Worked well for a while until it wouldn't start my bike 800 miles from home  :233:.  I put it on a trickle charge when not riding and the battery will take the charge.  Take the charger off and in two days the battery goes dead.  I repeat the charging process & all is well.  Except in two days the battery goes dead when I take it off the charger.  I've also noticed that my radio is not recognized when bike is charged.  I've replaced the 10 amp fuse a hundred times & still the radio is not recognized.
Is there a voltage regulator that is causing my battery to drain?  A short somewhere?  My dealer (90 miles from here) hasn't been much help.
Any idea?  (No, I do not leave the parking light on when bike is parked).

Sounds like your need the audio software update...
To check the Audio Software Version :

    1.   Turn the ignition to ON position (don’t start the bike) and wait for the screen to display.

    2.   Make Sure “Radio Off” is displayed on the screen.
( If the radio is on, turn it off <Volume Down all the way to OFF>
and then turn the ignition off and back on again ).

    3.   Press and hold the (P) Preset button until diagnostics menu is displayed.

    4.   Press and release the scroll button until S/W Version is highlighted.

Early Radio Software version was 1.03A

New version is 104E, solves problem  where sometimes the satellite radio stays on after your turn off the ignition and kills the battery.

greg, in the meantime you can also try removing the left side cover (below the riders seat) and pull the fuse for the radio.   It is the one with the music note as an identification.

Thanks, atrophy & nervouswreck.  The secret is to get the "Radio OFF" to display on my screen.  Soemtimes it displays, sometimes not.  I've also removed the panel to get to the fuse box and replaced the fuse many times.  Are you suggesting that I should just pull the fuse & that might help not run the battery down when I have the ignition in the OFF position?

Do a topic search for: Dead battery again...again, by forum member snarl and you will find a post by coconut regarding this well known issue with some 2013 Trophys with XM/Sirius satellite radio.  There is a software update that the dealer can install that will correct it.  It should be a warranty issue and free to have done.  As others have said, pulling the audio fuse when you park it will keep you from being dead somewhere on the road until you can get to the dealer.

Yes, the problem seems to be the radio does not shut off sometimes even when the display says "Radio Off"  That's the software problem.

Seems a good time to remind Members of the HOW TO: Check the most common faults & issues Topic,
