High pitch chatter at low rpm's
« on: June 18, 2015, 03:53:41 am »
I have a 2014 model, built in 2013.  My build number is 605448, so I have missed the head/camchain recall.  The annoying noise which is emminating is a high pitch rattle at low rpms, basically below 3500.  Perhaps it just blends in with the other engine sounds above that.  You can actually discern the frequency of this rattle just before idle speed as the engine decelerates. It is not directly related to engine rpm, but it does increase and decrease with engine speed. The noise used to go away after I reached 3 bars on the coolant temp guage, but now it does it all the time, irregardless of temperature.  It is most prevalent on deceleration of the engine.  Almost soulds like something in the cooling system.  Anyone had this issue????

Sounds very similar to a noise my '13 TTSE had.  They finally replaced the cam chain tensioner and that fixed it...
