10 MM Button Head bolts on R&G Bars

One of the upper retaining bolts on my R & G Adventure bars found a new home on the side of the road somewhere and decided to stay.  So, in searching some of the bolt websites, and motorcycle parts websites, I have come to the conclusion that it is other than the most common thread pitch for the size since it is not readily available here in the US.  After e-mails to Twisted Throttle (a US distributor) and R & G I have ordered 5 of them from Twisted Throttle at $2 US each plus $2 (approximate from TT once they get to the US) shipping.  If in the future anyone in the US has one of these depart its warm comfy home on their Trophy I will be willing to send you one by collect postal service or any other service you desire, for just the required shipping cost to you.  By the way, these things will take another 3-5 weeks to arrive here, so I hope I don't pass by the place where the missing one lives now, and some of its remaining friends decide to join it.  I will honor this offer to forum members who contact me by PM with shipping instructions for as long as I own my Trophy, or the inventory holds out, whichever occurs first.

Did you check McMasterCarr?  They usually have just about any fastener, metric or standard, I might need.  Not cheap, but usually available and ready to ship.  There are several popular fastener websites you can check too.

Button heads, even on motorcycle bolt websites generally are only shown in 8MM diameter for 1.25 thread pitch.  All the 10 MM button head bolts I have seen listed were 1.5 thread pitch.  In Europe the different thread pitches may be readily available just like NC and NF (designations hardly ever seen anymore) are here, but most threaded fastener companies that I have dealt with in my purchasing career only stock "standard" thread pitches in metric sizes.  Been there a lot since I worked for a Japanese company and some of our bolts on our equipment were absolutely unavailable in the US due to size, thread pitch, and length, because one dimension was not standard when combined with the other two.  Spent a lot of time poring over a McMaster Carr catalog (among others) for various odd items for a manufacturing plant.  From the costs I uncovered for just plain old stainless HH bolts the right thread diameter and pitch that I could cut down if necessary, I thought $2 each and no freight to get them here from England for the genuine article was not bad.  I may not ever need another replacement, but I bet someone will!

    M10 x 1.25 x 20mm Button Head / Dome Head are the bolts supplied with the R & G Bars.

You can get some nice Stainless Steel replacements in the USA :
    Pro-Bolt Stainless Steel Dome Head Bolt M110 x 1.25 a 25mm,
although these are 25mm long, but could be ground down on a Bench grinder if necessary.
( May not be an issue depending on the depth of the threaded hole ).

They are a bit pricey though at US $6.38 each, or US $57.50 for a pack of 10 ! :084:

Yeah, I found those earlier coconut, and I think they even have them available in titanium (ouch!).  I wouldn't be adverse to shortening them but for the price.  Makes $10 for five of the R & G originals plus $2 postage seem cheap doesn't it!  Not like I can't wait a while for them.  Some metric fasteners in this country are dicey.

Two of mine went missing as well. Luckily we have a few specialist fastner places nearby, so just wandered in and came out with some hex head bolts instead. I put on spring washers as well from then on, and loctite.
