    Glove compartment not locking

My SE, with under 200 miles on it, isn't locking the glove compartment with the key off.   Suspect that this will be a warrantee issue, yet was hoping someone has an idea before I have to drive across town to the dealer.  Hopefully something silly!

    Thanks in advance!

I think it only locks when the engine is running but I might be wrong.
Might as well as wish we had.

It should be locked when ignition is turned off and when the bike is going faster than 5k. Should unlock when ignition is turned on. Bike doesn't have to be running for unlock.

    Jb,

As above, but when compartment left open and ignition is off, lid can simply be closed and it should catch properly. Your mechanism might be a bit sticky.

    Don't grow up, it's a trap...

OK....now I did it.    I insisted on fussing and seeing why the box wouldn't lock.  I removed the two bolts, checked to see that the cables were attached firmly, and in the process of putting the assembly for the box back in place, the metal retaining clip fell out.   Any idea of a source online to get another clip?  Model number/trophy serial number for this metal clip that the bolt for the glovebox secures into?  Thanks in advance!

I did the same when digging in the right side for the battery. Metal clip fell off it's place, and I was lucky to fish it out with a bit of wire. Can't you retrieve it from within the fairing?

Gave up trying to fish it out.    Need to find a source to get another
