One of the guys I ride with on weekends is in ICU, no visitors, a friend slipped in last night at midnight and the night nurse let him peek thru the window. Gerry is bandaged from head to toe with only his nose not bandaged.

If you know someone who is riding one of these make sure they him know about the recall.

Wow, that's just horrible. I'm very sorry to hear that and I hope your friend makes it through it ok.
Its a good thing that you're putting the word out as that needs to happen ASAP.

Can't say for sure if it caught on fire before the crash or crashed and caught on fire, Gerry has not spoken to anyone since the accident.

Yes... fuel and hot engine parts are never a good combination.... I hope your ride buddy recovers and if the fire was a result of the leak and not post accident then I should imagine KTM lawyers are a little worried right now!

Even if post-accident, the recall problem could have been the main cause of the fire.  It seems to me very few newer cycles catch fire in a crash.

Wow, last year I'd read reviews on the KTM and thought it impressive enough to consider testing one...  perhaps a good thing I didn't follow through!

I hope your friend fully recovers.
