Is it the first one?
« on: August 15, 2015, 10:20:17 pm »
In this month's Nacelle (Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club magazine) there is a letter about the ECU recall. I was sure my bike had been done anyway, but it got me researching recalls generally. As a result I noticed that the recalls were for VIN numbers starting at 561284. Imagine my surprise to discover that 561284 is my machine!!!

Now I already know that this was one of the machines released originally as part of the pre-launch for try outs by journalists and dealers in the UK, but my question is this:
Am I the owner of the first production/released Trophy?

Are VIN numbers truly consecutive?

Does anyone have a lower VIN on their Trophy?
Now got Black TTSE
Used to have Pre-Launch Trophy - lowest recorded Trophy VIN

Hi threeup,

I think that would be worth a letter or eMail to Triumph asking the question.

The very first of ANY production bike, is likely to be have additional value in years to come !

Cheers  :821:

I too saw that letter in Nacelle...

What puzzles me is why Nacelle took so long to publish or even mention the ECU Recall

Isn't this the same Recall that was done months ago ?

VINs don't run consecutively through Hinckley Models as far as I am aware
1992 Trophy 900 MkI (aka My Lady Tracey)
1997 Trophy 900 MkII (aka My Lady Sharon)
2012 Trophy SE MkIII (aka Sophie)

Quite possible but why would they not be consecutive? Seems like its worth an email to try and find out

It can't hurt to check....

Mind you, if you find it IS the very first production machine will it change your way of riding it? Will you want to garage it safely and not ride it again for fear of destroying history??
Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧
