Another thread (Unsubstantiated Rumor) brought up the subject of bike ownership, so let's find out.

In the other thread (Unsubstantiated Rumor) that gave rise to this poll, Ernest T suggested we might ask respondents to refer only to their main ride when responding.  I think that is a good suggestion.

How long I plan to keep a bike, and how long I actually keep it, are two very different animals.

I am a very unapologetic bike whore, with more "6-months test rides" than I care to remember.  If a bike hangs around longer than 2yrs, it is very close to achieving "the love of my life" status.  :153:  So far, only 1 bike has managed to achieve that.  But I don't remember an instance - not once - I ever bought a bike thinking I wasn't going to keep it for a very long time.

I can't see any reason to sell the TT at this point.  An updated version would have to have some seriously cool stuff to entice me!

I plan to keep my TTSE until a good friend who wants one, makes me a decent offer for it...

It's my "Go To" bike for RoSPA Duties and Group Rides and the easiest, most comfortable of my three Trophies to ride.

I'll be sad to see it go but will still thoroughly enjoy riding the other two, First Generation, models until such time as my age catches up with me and it will be time to hang up my Riding Kit.
Hopefully, I've still got 12 years or so to go..

After over 4 decades of hard riding.. 10 wings several Beemers a Yamaha, several other assorted Hondas, ducatis,   and sorry to say 2 HDs.  Length of time might be a bad test of staying ability.. SO far the love of my riding life has been the 1986 GL1200 SEi   I have had 3 of them and put well over 150,000 miles on 2 of them each but owned them just a tad under 3 years apiece   last one I got stupid and traded it in on a GL1500   that 1500 holds the distinction of my shortest ownership  ONE WEEK   hated it,  rode like a crippled elephant.
This trophy replaces my 2014 CTX 1300 with 15,000 miles on it.  The trophy appears to have staying power as long as I guessed right about seating options,  I have over 5000 miles on it now  but had to replace the stock brick that was masquerading as a seat with a Russell heated touring saddle.  Plans are, at the moment, to put about 25,000 miles on it this coming summer to break it in. Then decide if I want to keep it.   So depends on the trophy,, if it wears out at 65,000 miles it will be gone in 2 years, if it will hold up like my 86 wings,,, should be good for 4 or 5 years and 150,000

If the Trophy holds up well for that many miles that will definitely be a feather in its cap!  Looking forward to the progress report on it as are many others I suspect.  :821:
