    May pull trigger...last minute questions....

this deal of mine may be getting close, so i've got some last minute questions for "the brethren".

Did the audio update actually fix the battery drain issue, or do these bikes continue to suffer from power problems?

i'm not too concerned about the recalls for the bike, as long as they were done and fixed the issues. does that seem to be the consensus (that they are fixed)? the reason is ask is that many have said they should have waited to 2014. that makes me think that the issues weren't fixed or that something changed between 13 and 14. I was hoping this was because they had to go through a load of crap to get it fixed right, but now there good to go. please correct me if i'm wrong.

I cant seem to locate a "head" issue that i've read about. can someone clue me in?

Do many of you suffer from bluetooth issues with helmet sets or linking to the trophy sound system?

is the "comfort" seat option a low seat, high seat, or in the middle seat?

thanks again for everyone's 2 cents worth on my other posts. I'm just trying to be in informed buyer.

I can't say for certain, because I never experienced the audio battery drain issue, but already did the S/W update anyway.  However, it is my understanding, that the update does indeed resolve this issue.  There have been countless posts about this on this forum.  All SE's were affected particularly those imported to the U.S.  I suspect there may still be a lot of those bikes that never had the update, since YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT TO GET FROM A DEALER.  However, some dealers remain clueless, and apparently do not know how to do the update properly, as unbelievable as that may sound!   :112:

I believe the head replacement was handled as a routine service bulletin - not a "recall", and only older VINs (applicable to MY 2012-13) were affected.  Some of these affected bikes had heads replaced (due to excessive valve train noise) and others did not.   It was more or less, a judgement call, whether or not this repair is mandatory, voluntary under warranty or not even necessary at all.

Btw, you can run the VIN of the bike of interest to you thru Triumph's webpage for applicable outstanding recalls.  I'm not sure if technical SBs are also included on that website.  The link to that webpage has been posted by someone here.  I think it is mentioned in a thread specifically dedicated to the topic of "Recalls".   Information on all recalls is also posted there as well.  The other so-called recalls pertain to fuel leak, and center stand issues; again these only apply to the older (MY 2012-13) VINs to the best of my knowledge.

    Good luck!

It appears the audio update fixed the problem.
The heads problem was on some 2013 models.  The head could be noisy.
Pairing the bluetooth is not the problem, the unit will cut out with some headsets.  I have a schurburth unit and there are days it works fine and days it will cut out.  Someone suggested relocating the antenna on the trophy and I'll attempt it when I change the air filter next time.   I think those with Sena products do not have the problem.

the comfort seat is listed at a 805/825mm seat height.... which is the same as the standard height. The SE in the USA was sold with the low seat.

I have a 2014, have never had the battery drain issue. Do not use bluetooth, so no idea on if it cuts out or not.

as others have said - if the VIN range is outside of the range of the recall for the head issues, you're fine.

Mine is a Year 12 registered bike. Touch wood I have not had any issues with the bike. Head, ECU and centre stand done under the recall. No radio or battery problems.
so far seems to be running even better than when bought. It was a launch model and had 3000 miles on from Triumph hinckley.

Now at 21600 waiting for 20000 service. So far have no intentions of upgrading or selling. It gets better with old age.

I have a '14 with 12000 miles and have zero major issues. No issues with anything you mentioned, but I did get the audio update as soon as I heard about the potential issue. About the only thing that has gone "wrong", is that it takes a few days for the TPMS to re-calibrate after a tire change. I got frequent low pressure warning lights until it sorted itself out. I LOVE this 3 cylinder motor however!

I think the '13 vs. '14 thing is just a thought that a lot of us arrived at.  No guarantee you will be 100% trouble free if you go with a '14... or '15, '16 for that matter.  The odds are good that if you get a '13, you won't be plagued with problem either.  It's playing the probability game based on what we read on the internet... and you know how reliable that info source is, right?  :016:

Best thing you can do is to try and get a steal of a deal.  That would lessen the sting of any problem you might encounter later.  I know if I had paid close to full MSRP and ended up with all the problems I read about, I would be pissed off beyond believe.  As is, I have my fingers crossed that my '14 will stay trouble free, but based on what I paid for it, I'm fine if I have to put up with a bit of BS.

The audio update absolutely fix the battery drain on my '13.

Recalls on the '13's shouldn't be an issue on 14's or later because the factory would have made the changes before they left for the dealers.  Those serial numbers shouldn't show up on the recall list.

The head TSB should only apply to early 13's.

It does seem that some have issues with the bluetooth performance.
