Ram mount recommendations
« on: October 01, 2015, 05:14:19 pm »
Was wondering if most of you are using the maple ram mount for the trophy or if there were other ""non mirror" mount that were preferable. I'm considering the ram mount x grip for my phone and like the placement of the maple unit, but price seems a bit steep. Any other recommendations, or is that the current gold standard?

Thanks

Greygoose

Using the Ram mount system, other than the mirror stem locations the only other one that I found and purchased is the Maple Farkles center mount. By the way, it works great.

Somewhere on this forum is a post of mine explaining how I fashioned a Ram mount on the center yoke cover for less than $5.  The post dates back a year or more.  It is either in the modifications folder or the electric/audio/nav one.

Take this for what it's worth, but I have at one time or another I have used both the center yoke, and the mirror stems to mount the GPS.  Neither is as clean and well placed as the OEM mount.

Do you have a picture of the setup with the Oem mount to share?

I can probably snap a photo in the next couple of days, but if you browse through the Gallery on this forum I would bet you'll find a few looks.
