Aftermarket helmet locks?
« on: October 03, 2015, 01:16:07 pm »
What's the consensus for after market helmet locks?...I'm not a " under the seat " type user. Someone had manufactured something custom for my old fjr , anything like that here?

Thanks Greygoose

Get the one with the 6mm bolt.

I either use the pannier or if I cant use that I lock it to the Passenger grab handles. If the scalys want the helmet they have to come prepared to cut the wire or destroy the helmet getting it off. No good to anyone then.

I only lock my helmet if it is short stop times tho. Otherwise I carry it with me.

I normally carry my helmet with me so that it can absorb some AC while I am in a restaurant, store, or work.

If I am hiking to waterfall or walking around a town square, I will lock it to the passenger grab rail with a plastic covered cable lock.  I can also run the lock through the arm of my jacket.  I only do this if the bike is full of luggage.

The under the seat lock on the Trophy does not work well with my full face helmets.

Those look like an interesting solution.  I may investigate.

I always take my helmet with me.  But I one of my brothers has no qualms about leaving his Arai (not a cheap helmet by any means) just sitting on the seat of his bike.  Incredibly he has never had a helmet stolen.  While I, on the other hand, in earlier days have had a lowlife steal every thing on the bike (backpack, sleeping bag, etc) that wasn't bolted down.

I use a Helmet Guardian. I only hang one helmet but I no others who lock two lids on their Trophy SE. The only issue is on one side you have the exhaust which can be a little warm. SE. http://www.helmetguardian.com/

With the helmet holder you can also lock your jacket on your bike by putting the clasp through the hole on one of the zipper pulls.

The only reservation I would have with this device is that the helmet is hanging up side down and in case of a shower....... :164:
