Why would this result in less pressure on legs, wrist, etc?

They would at least protect the paint work where the knees touch the tank. 
I'm hoping they will you more "knee grip" and less vibrations from the tank to your knees.
   
Anyway.  I ordered a set and I am curious how they will look and feel on the bike.

I'll be interested in hearing a report on them.  If I might make a suggestion, I'd make sure they are readily removable without paint damage before installing them.
