Not important  at all, if you never do any work on your own cycles.

But anybody who now owns an originally purchased 1971 BMW R75/5  and does their own maintenance has known how important torque wrenches are for at least 44 years.

Those who don't know didn't have a bike last for  anything close to 44 years.

BTW, I own at least a dozen torque wrenches.

I've been repairing bicycles, cars, small engines, air craft, and motorcycles for over 60 years, and I consider torque wrenches necessary tools for any competent mechanic.

    1) loose
    2) farmer tight

I own one 1/2" torque wrench ( click type ) but about the only time  I regularly use it is to torque wheel nuts on my cars.

I read about a study NASA did years ago to determine the best way to torque a bolt/nut properly.   They concluded the best way was to give an experienced technician a wrench and tell the tech. to tighten that bolt/nut.  Apparently the tech can feel just when the correct stretch is reached.

I also have used my torque wrench to torque con rod nuts and main bearing fasteners, but that's about it.

A motorcycle has numerous fasteners that torque values are critical to its safe operation.  I have 5 wrenches in various drives and capacities.
