Didn't know where to post this...

On my test ride Saturday it was evident that there is no default provision for your license plate... how does the plate mount up? Does the bike come with a plate bracket? There don't seem to be any holes in the mudguard... I assume that must be drilled into? (For the test ride, the dealer plate was zip-tied to the reflector brackets). Seems odd.

Seems odd?  Mine has holes in the mud guard for the license plate.

There are two oblong bosses on the rear fender which should already have holes in them for license plate mounting.

So on a brand-new bike (at least the one I rode Saturday), those oblong bosses don't have holes in them -- that's what I was questioning because the tech said they drill those holes and that's what seemed odd to me. Also seemed like there would be a bracket attached to the fender, rather than attaching the plate directly to the fender.

Doesn't seem right.    I bought mine basically right off the truck and sat and watched them do all the prep.  In fact, as I recall, I transferred the plate from the old bike to the new myself, and I know I didn't drill any holes.

If there truly aren't any holes my guess would be a random production error.

Well I would think that drilling the holes would be part of standard dealer prep. If you think about it the same fender has to accommodate plates/tags (whatever you want to call them) for multiple states and countries.  So if the fenders came pre drilled for the US then they wouldn't fit other countries and vice versa.  I'll email my brother and ask if it is part of dealer prep.

Mine was the same way when I went to pick it up. They had to drill the holes out to put the temporary paper plate on. As far as worrying about having a bracket or anything back there, all your holding is a license plate that literally weighs only ounces. :001:

Heard back from the service manager at my brother's dealership.  It is the dealer's responsibility to drill the holes...for the reason i articulated in my previous post.
