Is there a good bluetooth mic only?
« on: November 22, 2015, 06:18:00 pm »
I do most everything through my iPhone and have custom wired earplugs that i connect to it. works great for directions and music. The problem lies with making phone calls. I was considering a sena 20 s but was wondering if anyone knows of a good bluetooth microphone only that i could permanently afix to my helmet and sync with my iphone since i've already got the other parts of the equation worked out.  that way i bypass having to buy the full sena setup since ill i need is a bluetoothed way to talk into the phone.

Any ideas?

thanks

I would be very surprised if that would work -
even if you could find a Bluetooth Microphone only,
when you set your Phone to use the Microphone,
I imagine that it would then disable the wired connection to your earplugs.

( In my personal opinion the best way to make a Phone call is to Stop riding,
because making / taking a call while riding can be very distracting and potentially dangerous ).

+1 on both counts.  I don't think the expense of any of the bluetooth headset units on the market is due to the cost of the mics being high for the mfrs.

How about this truck driver for distractions?

I like the way the trophy interacts with my technology, I received a phone call from my wife whilst I was riding because my tracker had stopped and she was worried, but the call through to my helmet was quick and solved the issue.  I'd really like an easy way to dial out.  I do understand the potential for distractions, virtually anything you do on the bike can be considered a distraction, classic being playing with GPS, however as in all things training and practice can help alleviate the distraction.  I'd like the call out facility so in the wet I can stop to make the call but not take off my helmet or root around for my phone if there was a way to dial out with out physically touching the phone.  I know Siri works well and I often dial from my headset whilst walking but not solved it from my TTSE yet.

The thing with the truck driver is that if he hit another vehicle ( or whatever ) due to be being distracted
he is much less likely to be seriously injured than a motorcyclist, although granted he might get struck
in the face by some of those gadgets flying around inside the cab !  :138:
