I know it's been a while since this thread was posted on, and although I did read many of these pages, I have not read them all - please excuse me if this has been brought up.

Novice here, about 3/4 of the way through my 20k service, and I really appreciate the post with all the details and follow-up posts.

The topic is witness marks... And, today I saw how important they are. While putting the cams back into place, I was confident that my really tight zip-ties would hold the timing chain in place, yet the chain jumped a tooth.
Yes, I may have caught it further down the road but that could have meant taking things apart again...

Glad for my red oil pen and the advice given.

Triumph says to replace the 4 "fixtures" that secure the cam gears to the camshaft itself.  They come with some type of locking agent applied.

If you don't , I would recommend that you use some red locktite on the threads.

You need to "index" the camshafts before tightening.  Triumph sells a special tool to align the camshafts.  From what I saw when doing my valve adjust, I believe you can make you own.  It needs to align the "flats" on each camshaft end, opposite the gear end.

Yes... Tonight I was looking up what the four little bolts I ordered were for... Yes, I made an indexing bar. Super, thanks for the help, again.
