Hey You...OLD GUY!! Tell me one thing...
« on: December 30, 2015, 05:35:46 pm »
OK, when we were kids, we all learned, old people don't know sh*t. Then again, once in a while the planets align and they show incredible insight and knowledge.

Old guys / experienced riders, please weigh in with one bit of advice you think is important that will make a significant difference to the riding of younger / less experienced riders. It can be as simple as "Ride your own ride" or anecdotal if that helps make your point. Please keep it to one bit of advice and, try to keep it short cause you know, those damn kids don't have any attention span.

Thanks

Studley

Ride as if pretty much everyone is having a bad day and trying to kill you!

35 years riding.

The best advice of all(and even though I'm old I don't know everything):

Ride like you are Invisible!!

It's allowed me to live amongst the cages for 45 years and counting...

And don't think I'm an old fogey-invisible doesn't mean law-abiding :152:

I ride by these 3 rules:
1) Nobody can see you.
2) Everybody is trying to kill you.
3) Even if they see you, they will still
     try to kill you!
In my 34 years of "on road" riding, they have served me well.
Life's not short, it's just you're dead so long.

The four replies so far almost gave me the idea that motorcycling is far more dangerous in the USA than elsewhere. :084:

Be in control don't let the machine control you!

Ebenezer:

It is...so many millions of cages and so few bikes(comparatively). The rest of the world is much more aware that we exist-why I don't know.

We all gotta die of something-the only question is how? Nobody wins in the end. Might as well go out doing something you love.
