What do you think of the mirrors?
« on: January 15, 2016, 04:38:41 pm »
This is the first bike that I've owned that doesn't have the mirrors sticking up on stalks as such. I adjusted almost straight away to looking down rather than up and I don't think that the view that they offer is particularly bad. I've just realised that I can see my brake & clutch levers in them though, Lol.......I've not even tried to adjust them yet.

Before getting a Trophy I did lots of miles on Pans and RTs, both have the same kind of set up and both give a view of your levers and are perfect for clipping car mirrors. I'm probably an odd shape but found the Pans to be the best while being the worst at giving weather protection for your hands unless you fit Hondas expensive wind deflector kit. I do a bit of escorting cycle races and tried screwing extra mirrors into the pre tapped holes in the switchgear, this left room for lock to lock riding without bashing the screen but it did start to take on the look of some giant blue scooter so they had to go.

I think they are too low, while riding with a passenger and a trunk, they are almost impossible to view anything. I had a buddy on a Wing follow me and if he was directly behind me I couldn't see him at all.

The Wing has better mirror visibility, they are farther out and higher up.

Hmm, I'm guessing that all mirrors this low will reflect the levers back at you, it's funny that I've just noticed it,...they appear right at the top of the mirror so it's not too bad.

Good point about the height/car mirrors, I've not done any extreme filtering yet, just taking it easy and getting use to how wide the back end is. Lol

Having ridden Pan Europeans in my past I am used to them and you do get used to them. That being said they do incent shoulder check which cannot be a bad thing.

The TTSE mirrors are too low. Had the same problem with my BMW RT and I put BMW GS mirrors on and they worked great. My dealer let me try a set of Explorer before I order them. They work GREAT.

The ttse is in my posession for over two years now. In the first year I have never seen anything behind me. My wife is almost always on the backseat and trunks on.
Last year I put a pair of mirrors from a Speedtripple in the holes. All problems are solved now and the only time when I use the Original ones is when washing the bike.

Some after market mirrors also go quite nicely with the colour scheme and lines of the Trophy  :169:
