Why would one need/want a passenger back rest with the top box fitted?

It goes on the mount instead of the top box.

I just found it.  Didn't design it. Or market/sell it.

Looking at the advert for it - one wouldn't ! ....

The backrest plate bolts to the same four mounting points
as Triumph uses for mounting the trunk to the bike.
So you can either have the Top Box ( Trunk ) mounted, or this Backrest,
but would need tools to switch between the two :028:

Apparently they send different hardware if you have the top box mounting plate installed and it bolts down on top of it.  I don't have a top box so I have no clue but they charge $20 more for the kit with the plate installed than just straight on the bike.  Sounds like more than just longer bolts and a couple of extra spacers.  Only they could truly answer.  I looked at the pictures and couldnt figure it out.

Never mind the passenger, what about the rider! :001:

I'd say that most touring bikes would have a top box with pad already fitted for the pillion to lean against so how about the rider?...especially us ageing ones who may need lower back support.

I know that you can get a riders backrest/support for the Goldwing for example.

:0461:  I wonder if we could persuade Triumph to supply us Old Wrinklies with a suitable Pillion passenger,
equipped with their own built in cushioning to lean back against  :047:

    And the answer is: Utopia
I have one and it is a simple install and feels great.
