Nice work. Having said that, not once during 5 years did I use the rack on my LT.

The Top Box has a maximum weight of 10kg (22 lbs).  Although I'm sure I routinely overload it I would be concerned that putting a rack on the top box would only encourage me to do so even more.  Not only bad for the box but also too much top weight bound to negatively affect handling.

I think it's a strange camera effect/washout of a silver one??

It's only to carry a pillow and a cellular blanket (essential for a happy wife) and we load all the serious weight in the panniers.
In case anyone was wondering it's actually an (almost) homespun effort, with a little outside help made from 3/8" dia 14swg stainless steel tube.
Copied shamelessly from the Givi original, (with a couple of tweeks) on my old Pan.

Well it looks like you did nice craftsmanship but aesthetically I prefer the top box clean.  If you are comfortable with it then that is what matters.

i recognise the design as I had a Givi rack on my last bike. Yours looks great in stainless and the larger feet are a definite design improvement. I fitted penny washers on mine to reduce localised stress cracking. Quality work mg friend.
