Audio cuts out when sounding the horn ?
« on: May 18, 2013, 11:34:58 am »
OK, Here's a question for anyone else with the SE / Audio system :

I have utilised the Triumph 3.5mm Audio Jack plug to connect my Garmin Zumo 660
into the Triumph Audio system, and have noticed that when I sound the horn,
whichever audio device is currently in use is muted for a few seconds,
and the Instrument Panel display changes briefly to "No Device".

This happens whether the bike Speakers or Headset Bluetooth speakers are used.

After a few seconds "normal" audio service is resumed.

Wondering if this is normal or not ?

nert ... That made me chuckle  :008:

... but seriously - does this happen to anyone else ?

Without the Audio Manual ( which I'm told are on "Back order" ),
I have no way of knowing if it should do this, or if there is a fault -
Anyone with an SE care to turn the radio on, sound their horn and see what happens ?  :440:

Turned my radio on and sounded horn.  No effect on radio.  Engine wasn't running.

patches :

Thanks for  checking that for me - just been and checked mine again,
and it doesn't do it with the engine off either.

I will need to check again with the engine running  :084:

Here's the update :

With the engine off - no issues.

With the engine running and in Neutral - no issues.

With the engine running and in gear ( stationary or moving ) - sounding the horn cuts off the audio,
and displays "No Device" on the instrument panel for a few seconds, then the audio resumes.
( It does this whether the Bike Speakers or Headset Speakers are selected ).

So the question remains - is it supposed to do this ? - Is it a "normal" feature ?
Is it some sort of safety feature to make sure the rider knows  that they have sounded the horn,
if riding along with volume up "high"  :084:
