Can the power outlet in the trunk be swapped out for dual USB outlet?

I tried using a 12v to usb adapter in the trunk.  However, it is not a tight fit and subsequently breaks electrical contact.

On my last bike i swapped out the 12v cigarette lighter with a dual usb outlet pictured below.

It appears the bottom of the trunk can be seperated to expose the electrical including the power outlet.  Is getting to the wiring as simple as removing the small screws on the interior of the box?

I'd like to use the same outlet and swap out the power outlet in the trunk.

I have the battery tender dual USB in the trunk and its tight - no moving at all - and then I can still have 12v socket when required -

I notice half my 12v stuff works well and tight and few pieces flop around in the OE socket..

Even after removing all of the screws you'll find you can't separate the two lower halves of the Trunk ( Top Box ).

Not sure whether this is because they are also held together with hook type clips or are glued together,
but there are several reports of other Members trying and failing - including Dealers !

Note that there are two different types of Power Socket used on the Trophy,
as discussed extensively here : Loose accessory port ...... See Post Reply #3  :028:

I put a small bead of Silicone sealer (not adhesive) around the USB adapter and then inserted it into the power receptacle. It is staying in place nicely now. I never use that plug for anything else, but if I really did need to take out the USB adapter, a good tug would do it.

I can confirm that the two parts cannot be separated. I emailed Triumph about it and they said it's both clipped and glued and taking it apart will destroy it.
