Engage gear and it cuts out

Bikes been in hibernation and got it out on Sunday. Started fine but when I engage gear, it cuts out. I thought it was the side stand switch, but it does it on the center stand as well. I took the side stand switch off and it seems okay. Any ideas???

It could still be / likely to be the Side Stand switch -
I would get that properly checked -
If there is a fault with the Side stand switch it won't make any difference
as to whether the bike is on the centre stand or not !

Do you know if the switch can be by-passed? I hate electrical stuff ;-(

The side stand has a switch designed to cut the engine
if a gear is selected with the Side stand down.

There is NO switch on the centre stand.

Most likely the plunger of the side stand switch has stuck,
So if it has, see if you can access it, clean it, spray with WD 40 to free it up !

Looks like just 2 allan keys, so I'll give it a good clean. Thanks for your help Coconut.

The switch has 2 torx screws securing the switch to the stand which are a 5mm thread. The loctite man at Triumph has been at these as well as everywhere else on the  bike, so you need a well fitting key and a deep breath to crack them off. Good luck.

The side stand switch seems fine and the warning light comes on OK, when I put the side stand down. I've also put wd40 on the little plunger behind the clutch lever but it's still cutting out. Anyone any ideas?? Bank holiday weekend and no bike. Where's the tallest building round here 😥
