    2013 TROPHY SE possible purchase

Hi, I was just looking for some advice on the Trophy, I have the chance to buy a 2013 SE with 4100 miles on it, I will have to trade my Speed3 to do so, so how are these bikes?? I know they are two different bikes but I am looking to do some touring and the S3 is not the right bike for that, the reviews look great but I want some advice from owners. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Any help and advice appreciated,

    Mark.

I have 52K miles on my '13 and love it.

be aware that was the 1st year, and there were a few teething problems.  Triumph fixed most of them.  Check out Coconut's excellent resource on this forum.

There were 2 or 3 recalls that should be done.  Some VINs are eligible for a cylinder head replacement due to excessive noise, that info is there too.  Mine was one, and it was deafening until fixed.  There is a radio firmware update that will prevent battery drainage...

Mine still is plagued by the benign but annoying Low Voltage-Radio Off message on startup, and occasionally my TES refuses to operate when the temp is below 50F, but clears after a few miles of riding...

Nothing is perfect, the centerstand on the TTSE is a bear for some of us, the radio Bluetooth can be funky, but overall this is the best bike I've ever owned...

I think you will find the Trophy to be an excellent touring bike. I have a 2014 with 15k miles on it and zero problems thus far. The engine is just fantastic as is the fuel injection mapping and the fuel economy.

I have just been offered a blue 2015 one for $400 more than the 2013 at another dealer, no brainer i'm thinking. I can get the blue 2015 SE for $13,995 with 4k miles on it. Sounds a good deal??

I think so.   I just paid $14,900 for a new 2014 demo with 70 miles on it - of course, once I added some optional extras like extended warranty, pre-paid services, tire insurance, a top box etc I was into it for $18,000 or so but that was just me.

Now that I've got it, I'd do it again!

I was considering a 2013 BMW K1600GT with 4000 miles which I could get for $16k pretty much loaded but I'm still on the fence, the BMW could be costly with servicing and all. Anyone have any knowledge with the BMW?

Based on what I know and the experience of guys I ride with that have a K1600, you cannot beat the larger engine of the BMW for power. Reliability and expense of maintenance is another thing however!  :151:

Reliability is huge and expense, so I can count out the BMW, thanks for your input. Now I have to decide on a 2013 silver Trophy with 4400 miles which is loaded for $13,500 or a 2015 blue Trophy with 4000 miles with no heated grips or seats?? Any help will be appreciated.
