One for discussion !
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:28:48 pm »
I was browsing through the Trophy Owners Manual this evening ( as you do ),
and came across this little gem  :

So, a few questions :

1.  How, exactly, might a tyre / tire become damaged on a Rolling Road,
without the damage "being visible on the external surface of the tyre." ?

In my experience of Rolling Roads ( admittedly only with regards to CAR tyres ),
any such damage would usually be as a result of the vehicle not being secured,
and the tyre hitting the side of the roller housing - which would be fairly obvious
from the scuff marks on the tyre wall.

2.  "Tyres must be replaced after such use...."
Does this mean that if you ever put your Trophy on a Rolling Road ( for whateveer reason ),
that you MUST replace the tyres immedialtely after -
even if there is NO apparant or even actual damage ???  :087:
( Because the tyre "may" have been damaged ? )

3.  What on Earth gave rise to this Warning in the Owners Handbook ?  :027:

Discuss !  :084:   :164:

I must have missed seeing that in the manual, but you've made some very good points.

Why? Legal team advises ink is cheaper than defending yourself. CYA, you've been warned. Dodged another bullet. Aren't you glad you have me on retainer?

My guess is heat build up.  On the road, banging against the Rev limiter usually come with lots of cooling wind hitting the rear tire.  On the dyno, maybe not so much.  Most are only set up to feed enough air to the radiator for engine cooling, which might makes things worse by blowing hot air on rear tire.

To what degree that might heat up and damage the rear tire, I dunno.  But ia warning like that is not without merit.

:451:  Hey Coconut you have way too much time if you're reading the lawyer type waivers, come and remove my fairing for me will you?  I want to repaint my cooling cover cowls blue.

You'll only get depressed if you read all that stuff, if you read the stuff that comes with your medications you'd never take any!

The only dynos I have seen in action looked like rolling speed bumps.  Maybe they flex the tire more than rolling down the road.  Also, if they go high speed the tire could be stressed like running sustained 120 mph would do on the road.

I never seem to have ANY "spare" time !

I came across that Warning while searching for something else ...
I'm not ( quite ) that anal as to go through reading all the "Danger of Death" warnings !  :745:

.....come and remove my fairing for me will you?
No need Dave - there's a perfectly good "HOW TO" you can use yourself for that  :007:

Cheers  :821:
