    Top Case Lock?

I bought the Top case for my bike and had the dealer install it.  They said it was missing the cylinder lock and that I should have an extra in my "owners bag."  Well, I didn't so now they are checking to see if I have to have a second key just for the top case.  Is this something that is normal?  They are going to pay for it, no cost to me, but it seems odd that I would have to have a second key just for the top case.   :112:

All new Trophy's are / should be shipped from the Factory with a spare lock cylinder,
specifically for use in the Top Box, which is supplied without a lock.

It is usually put inside the tool kit bag under the pillion seat.

If it is not present, then you may have to settle for a different key,
unless you bought the bike new, and can persuade Triumph to change ALL of the locks
so that you have just the one key, as was originally designed.

    Cheers  :821:

A good locksmith should be able to replace the pins in the lock to match an existing key. I've had this done before therefore two different keys would not be needed.

    squared,

Have you done that with a Trophy Top Box Lock ?

It doesn't look like the pins are easily removable,
unless the shiny cap ( where the key enters ) I sorted off,
and that is crimped on so may be difficult to replace again ?

Not on the Trophy. I had the tumbler for a helmet lock adjusted to match my key for the FJR I rode years ago so that I would only need a single key to open everything. In any event, a locksmith would be able to tell if he could make the necessary adjustment. If not, I believe the two key solution is just plain unacceptable; replace all the tumblers. If the dealer says that he cannot remove the tumblers, we know better as there is a thread herein that explains how to do it. Just my opinion. Have a good one.

I am not sure that they knew to look there for the lock, I will check out the tool kit when I get home from work. Hopefully it is sitting in there waiting to be used!  Thanks for the tip.  :020:

I had to call the dealer to find out that my lock cylinder was in the little storage box under the pilot's seat just behind the big audio box.   I didn't even know there was a little storage area there .....
