Ticking noise from rear of Drive Shaft
«

Hi All,
I have noticed that when stopped after riding my 2016 Trophy SE that there is a ticking noise from the rear of the drive shaft where it transfers power to the rear wheel.
The ticking is easy to hear with no helmet on and is regular ... about 2-3 clicks per second. There is also a louder click that presents itself about every 1-2 seconds. It lasts for several minutes after I shutdown the Trophy.
Any ideas? The Trophy has about 3000 kms and had all items done as required on the 800km service.
best regards,
Shemogolee

I think what you are hearing, at least when the engine is shut off, is heat flexing metal of the exhaust system.

Mine does that too. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.

Interesting ... I will try and isolate the source of the noise and report back.

Yes, the noise you are hearing is the exhaust system contracting/shrinking slightly as it cools. Although annoying, there is no reason to be concerned; it's just that the engineers that designed the system, weren't concerned of this phenomenon.
