Broken Lower Windshield Arms (Picts)
« on: May 21, 2016, 07:30:36 am »
I guess I got lucky.  The first day of a four day ride I partially dropped my bike and hit the left side of the windshield on the gas pump.  I could clearly see that the lower left arm was broken.  The windshield continued to work, although a bit sloppy.  I rode another 1500 miles home and took apart.

The left arm is gone as it must have fallen out during the ride.  The right arm stayed on and in place by pretty much shear luck, as it too is broken.

If my luck holds out I might even be able to put this back together! :745:

:460:    I'm sure you will get it back together OK, very good photos of the damage area though, useful to know what the operative parts look like... :821:...

Very nice photo's. Having seen so many parts of the Trophy and its complexity, I am beginning to understand why the price is as it is.

As you start tearing into it I have to admit it's pretty cool how this thing goes together!

$67 for the piece that will repair my oops.   Weird thing is that it is definitely aluminum and Weighs next to nothing. Curious as to why they wouldn't have used steel on a piece subject to a lot of force from the wind etc.

Oh well I guess if I stop whacking the windshield on the gas pump the aluminum will be just fine.

$67 beats a few hundred bucks for a windshield.

Yep probably like most of ours!

However, I am good at rationalizing things. As an example, I figure by replacing this part myself I probably saved close to $200 in labor.   Surprisingly I think that windshield that I was looking at cost $190.......hmmmmmm :047:
