My just finished project 1971 Honda 500 Four K0

Not Trophy I know but wanted to share the results of my winter in the cold garage !!!

Original USA spec imported in OCt 2016. 13,000 original miles but horrendously seized pistons and carbs.

Complete strip dpwn and rebuild over 6 months winter 2016.

New Pistons and Rings, Big End Bearings.

Carb, Master Cylinder and Caliper rebuilds.

Horrible MAC 2-1 pipes replaced with  aftermarkets ones. (Honda ones no longer obtainable)

Frame repainted and everything cleaned down and polished plus countless other small bits.........

End result a nicely running original, not concours (apart from pipes) spec USA K0

Jobs I'd still like to do - New rims and spokes - originals are nice but do have some small pitting.

Nice.

My dad is doing the same thing to his '69 (I think that's the year) Honda Super 90.

And then, I also own a nuevo nostalgia 2013 Honda CB1100.

Great job on an iconic bike.   Those were some of the most usable and best-balanced of the new generation of motorcycles that were coming along when I were a lad.

Amazing to think, in this era of Gold Wings and Victories and even our own Triumph Trophies that the definitive transcontinental touring bike of that day was a CB-500 Four with a Windjammer and Bates luggage and crash bar.    And people went EVERYWHERE like that, happily and effectively.

Brings back good memories of a simpler time ..... Thanks!

Proves that you really don't need to have 120+ HP and 600+ lbs of machine to tour. Just a well balanced and large enough bike.

Paul, sorry for being so late. I'm suitably impressed. I was fortunate to have the first one registered in Victoria [Australia]. Did many fine enjoyable k's on it before production, then modified production [pre super bike period] racing. Ended being 640cc, bored and stroked, painted all yellow. Was very happy owner, only problem, I wish I still had it. Hope you love yours and will never part with it. :152: :152:
