Test ride.
« on: May 30, 2013, 04:47:01 PM »
Hi all.
Been lurking here for a while. I'm currently running a Ducat Multistrada 1200 - but have had a soft spot for the Trophy for some time. Had a go on the Tiger 12 last year and have finally managed to get a few hours in on the Trophy.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the bike.
I was expecting to be underwhelmed with it, due to the size and weight vis the Multi - but i was really impressed with how well the big girl can move. Not only getting off the line quickly, but in it's balance and feel. Feels like a much smaller bike.
The brakes and driveline were excellent, fuelling spot on and controls felt positive and the whole bike had a quality feel to it.
My only slight qualm was the lack of leg room. Admittedly, i didn't move the seat from the position it was left in and i am used to the long legged nature of the Multi, however, i guess that's something i could adapt to in the long run.
I am not sure whether i'll get one - as i do love the dynamic capabilities of the Multi - but the Trophy is one great bike.
All the best.

Great review from your test ride.

I had mine back in January and didn't think I'd end up with one either.  I've had my trophy now just about 2 weeks.  Brilliant bike.

I've never ridden the Multistrada so I can't comment on its legroom.  But I'm not that tall so "leg room" has never been a major concern of mine. The Trophy does have two seat heights.   For me the deciding factors would be the Trophy's technology and the fact that it is a shaft drive.

I'm 6'3" and have the seat set on high and it's just right.

Multistrada's a good bike but £17,500 was too strong for me

i sold my Multistrada and bought the Trophy!  I'm short so leg room was not an issue - actually the Multi was a bit tall for me but I made do.  Two very different bikes but the Trophy better suited the riding I expect to do in the next few years.  I dont miss the horsepower as i thought I would. The Triumph moves along quite nicely.

Had another go on one yesterday. I can feel myself weakening..
The dealer i loaned the bike from has 2 ex - press intro bikes. Both will come with a full 2 year warranty. One of the bikes was up for £11,000 - which is a £4000 + saving over new!
Bloody tempted..
