Have a glass of Hogs back Lager with me.

I have a 1200 in Azure (Blue) 14 years old I have been the proud owner for a couple of years.
To be fair I bought her as a work horse when I changed jobs and had to commute to work and did not want
to rack of the mileage on my other bikes. For such a dull ride to work.

The Trophy has proven to be a spectacular success, she does the commute with hardly a murmur but has also become
my go to bike on ride outs and as she does everything with aplomb my other half is questioning why I have the other bikes and I am running out of arguments.

Hi there catte strophe! Welcome to the forum! :400:

I note you have the older model Trophy... everyone is welcome but this site is primarily for the 2012/13 model year onwards Trophy 1215.

A few guys in here have had or still have your model so some help and advice may be available but probably not as much as you might imagine.

The older model tends to get discussed in On Two Wheels section.

Also, you might want to check out Triumph rat which is a section dedicated to your model.
Triumph Trophy! Not for every Tomaz, Dieter or Herman!🇬🇧

Hi Catte Strophe, amd :400: to the Forum !

Like Cropbiker says, this Forum is dedicated to the "new" Trophy model ( 2012 onwards ),
although everyone is welcome here and discussions on Triumph Models other than the "new" Trophy
can ( and should - to avoid any confusion ) be held in this Section : "On Two Wheels - Bikers Chat"

    Cheers  :821:

:001: Erm yes did not really join this forum to talk about my bike, I guess I know a fair bit about the "Old" trophy was kind of looking to get a heads up on what you guy's like, hate or ambivalent about the newer version, especially comments from previous Trophy owners.

I kind of got a feel for the forum from the off, still I will stay around and read some of your comments.

Be Good, if not don't get caught

I'm a former previous Model owner - the Photo of the BRG 900 cc
on the History of the Triumph Trophy page was mine  :169:

I loved that 900 triple, but the "New" model is just SO much better !

Shaft drive instead of chain drive
1200 triple instead of the 900 triple or 1200 four cylinder,
Loads of electronics that the old model didn't have :
    Tyre Pressure Monitoring,
    Electronically adjustable suspension,
    Motorised windshield,
    Cruise control
    Traction Control
    ABS
    Audio system
    Heated Grips & Seats ( option ),
    .... the list goes on.

Even the little things like the Panniers and Top Box are a huge improvement -
The "New Trophy only has one lock for each, and then just lift the carrying handle to release the pannier
or top box from the bike - way better then the multiple locks and catches on the previous model.

Then there's the ride - the previous Model was pretty darned good,
but if you haven't had a Test Ride on the "New" model yet, then you really must,
and afterwards you'll be reaching fro your cheque book to put down a deposit !

At first she will appear to be quite top heavy ( and it IS a heavy machine at 301Kg ) but as soon as you get going
those concerns disappear and she handles superbly.  When stopping though, particularly if you're short legged,
and can't flat foot, then you need to take care where you put your foot / feet down,
as a slippery / gravelly surface can easily catch you out resulting in a fall !

There's LOADS of information within the pages of this Forum, I'd recommend having a browse around,
and using the "SEARCH" button ( up there on the Menu Bar ), and then if you can't find an answer to
a particular question, just start a new Topic in a relevant Section.

You could do worse than by starting here : TOP TIPS for new Forum Members !

    Cheers  :821:

Hi Coconut, perfect thanks for the feedback.

I have an upcoming test ride booked, I had a fairly short hundred yard ride on the SE which being short in the leg was interesting as it was down the back of the shop at low speed.

Will take a look now at the link provided.

Don't be put off by the apparently long list of "Common faults and issues" !

None of them are really that "common" -
this is a list I compiled and maintain from various reports made on this Forum,
with the intention of helping other Members to overcome any problems that they may encounter.

Most of the issues only affected a few of the earliest production models
and have since been addressed by Triumph.

A reputable Dealer will check that any applicable Recalls and Service Bulletin updates have been carried out.
