Dana Pt CA to Deadhorse AK to Chicago IL. 8200 miles, 16 days.  We were the only street bikes north of Fairbanks (made me think of how good a tiger would have been for those 1000 miles from Fairbanks to Deadhorse and back-next time) and made it!  My buddy rode his 99 BMW r1100. Incredible journey through the Western US, Alberta, BC, Alaska.  The Trophy was outstanding. Wish I had a lot more time....

Thanks. Started posting some pics in gallery. We saw a dozen or so bears/Cubs alongside the road, bison, moose, fox and caribou. Just an outstanding trip that I may do again someday but with a lot more time. Very pleased with the trophy even in the deep gravel and mud. Not made for that stuff, but valiant effort by the street bike.

Very nice!  Sounds like a dream trip.
My bucket list includes riding in all 50 states and Alaska would be a pinnacle.
I'm curious, now having hindsight, what would you do different with your Trophy (supplies, parts, accessories, riding gear, etc.) if you were to start the same trip again?

Better rain gear...We knew it would rain, but it rained a lot.  Tires were Michelin Pilot 4 and did well on all the surfaces. Would have been great to put some knobbies on on Fairbanks!  The only accessory I wanted prior was a radiator screen for rocks, but was on back order and didn't have problems.  I have not installed heated grips or seat, so 44 in the mountains a few times and could have used.  Gas tank holds enough to not have to carry extra even on the haul road. Be sure to fill up regularly. You never know.  Other than that...pack light.  Seems like I End up using about half of what I drag along...musts are great rain suit, bear spray, good tent and bag, bug spray ( stopping on the dalton-lots of construction.  The mosquitos are like small birds and attack aggressively). Best to keep moving.  Finally, take a lot more time than we did.  It was epic!

    Very Cool!  :028:

A couple questions if you do not mind.

I saw the picture with all of the dirt on the bike.  Did this effect the radiator's ability to keep the engine cool?

Also, did you clean the radiator during the trip?

My big fear with this bike is the complex systems.  When I was a kid, all bikes had kick starters, cables for brakes and the only electronics were the lights.  Now, one little electronic gremlin can put you on the side of the road.

    Thanks for the pictures.

I did clean the radiator after the dalton in Fairbanks at a self serve car wash. Not once did it overheat or have any technical issues. The windscreen, when I raised and lowered, did stick a few times as it was loaded with dirt and dust. Overall, not any issues. The bike was a champ.
