Hello folks.got my trophy in January, put on 5200 miles,up until now I loved the bike. That is until it broke, the shoulder bolt holding in the shifter broke off leaving me stranded.I can put up with a loud motor and drive train, but breakage at 5200 is pretty bad.The Gold Wing is looking better and better!

Hi gedmonds, welcome aboard :400:,  there's been a few postings here about that `shifter bolt',  just do a search to read about the issues and how others have resolved the problem...... :821:

Hi Edmonds and welcome.... has the bike been over at all on the left hand side.... this seems to be the primary cause of shearing of this bolt if the bike has been dropped. Even a slow speed or parking lot tumble seems to be enough to weaken the bolt...

Welcome to the Forum :400:  Yeah the shifter bolt is a known problem   Mine went at 30000.  Shouldn't happen at all.  Turns out is has to be a regular maintenance item to prevent breakage.

:400: gedmonds don't give up on the Trophy because of a shifter bolt, I remember when the spines/frame were breaking on the revised Goldwing.  Pales in comparison to a shifter bolt.   This bike is fun with a capital F.
