    Recalls?

    Hello to you all.

l am thinking about buying a 2012 1200SE (private sale). lt is a one owner bike with only 3500 miles on the clock. The owner has never taken it back to the dealer for a service in the past 4 years due to the bike hardly being used. My question is, have there been many recalls on the Trophy since it launch? This bike was one of the first delivered in the UK.

Any info on this would be welcome.

    Hi Shepp,

There have not been many. There was an ECU exchange, a head rebuild and a centre stand modification to my recollection as the main ones.

Call your nearest dealer and give them the VIN, they will run it through the system to see what is outstanding.

You can do this yourself on Triumphs web site too here is the link

Welcome to the gang, sounds like you got a great find!

On my '13 SE ( a USA bike )  I had the following done following:

Safety Recalls on the ECU and the centerstand.

Bug in the radio which caused the battery to drain overnight solved by a radio firmware upgrade.  To the best of my knowledge there was no recall on this; it was done upon customer complaint.

Head Replacement for noise.  This was another non-recall, there is a TSB on it, but it was only done if the customer complained about excessive head noise.  The VIN range eligible is in Coconuts extensive FAQ area elsewhere on this forum.

I believe there was a recall on some earlier models for leaking gas tanks...

Thanks Kevin for posting the link, out of curiosity I used it and entered the VIN number of my Trophy: No outstanding recall. I works even outside of the UK! Great and definitely useful to anyone considering buying a second hand Triumph  :460:

Thanks for the help and info. l'm not sure weather to go for this bike or not. l had a 900 Trophy a few years ago which l enjoyed. l tried an 800 Tiger a short while back which l found too revvy for my liking.

l'll give it some thought over the next couple of days.

    Shepp,

If you liked the Trophy 900, and you're anything like me,
you will absolutely LOVE the "New" Trophy.

There are SO many improvements from the previous model :
Shaft Drive, Electrically adjustable screen, electrically adjustable suspension,
ABS, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, Audio System, Linked Brakes,
Options for Heated Grips & Seats, "One lock" luggage ( instead of 3 ! ),
and the Handling, which can't be described you MUST experience it !

I have a feeling you haven't taken one for a Test Ride
( otherwise you wouldn't' be so unsure ), so I would urge you to do that,
and can virtually guarantee that when you do you will be smitten !

    Cheers  :821:
