Hi, I'm looking to acquire a used top box bag that it's new or like-new condition. Thanks.

There is a post on a much better alternative. Search for "osprey" and you'll find it. I liked what I saw so much that I went ahead and bought one myself (40L). When filled up it's perfect and looks like it was made to fit exactly into the top box (completely fills it). As a bonus the quality is outstanding and it even has backpack type lightweight straps so you can sling this on your back and still have two hands free to carry in the side bags. Check it out.  :002:

Thanks Gar, I've seen the posts about the Transporter -- hoping to find something less expensive by going used. So far it sounds like everyone is happy with theirs, which is a good sign. If I get no bites I'll get the Osprey, they're the same price new.

What does it look like when it's not filled up? Does it still function just as well as a backpack when it's not full? What about slinging it over one shoulder, does it do that well when not full up? Thanks in advance.

It lies pretty flat when empty. It has lots of separate pockets including one large one that sits on top so you can separate out your stuff quite nicely. I can now pack in my tools and repair stuff along with luggage in separate compartments and I know that if it fits in this bag then it will fit in the top case. It works well as a backpack even if only slightly full, works just as well with one strap over the shoulder (the straps each curve in a bit for that extra hold).

Why bother with an official top box bag.  I toured France earlier this year and used an old spots bag that had been laying round the house for ages.  It folded down tflat when not in use and doubled as a over the shoulder bag when I was off the bike and walking round the towns.  I forget how much it originally cost me but I bet it was not more than a few pounds.

it will even strap to the rack I have on the top of the top box.    Perfect for all my needs when touring.
